Haven’t blogged. Have been buried under work. It’s been the kind of week where I go to work, then go to my other work, and then go home and sleep.
I’ve got a bunch of Robot mugs made. The last Fresh Fish special requests have been finished and delivered. All the Viking stuff is at least up to greenware stage[1]. The continuing adventures of the casserole dish… continue[2]. Planning for another mug order is rumbling into gear, and production for a third is about to start.
But today a three-year-old named after a Star Wars character gave me a painting. It suddenly turned into a really good week.
[1] And half has been glazed, packed, and delivered.
[2] The latest version warped in the kiln, so now the lid won’t fit. Back to square one.

My name is Maaike Charron, and I'm a potter in St. John's, Newfoundland. I started fiddling around with pottery in summer 2006, when I was told volunteering in the local clay studio would get me free studio time. I mostly taught myself, spending a lot of time poring over books, magazines and websites, and occasionally pestering the more advanced (but very helpful) potters around me with questions. After about two years, I decided I'd gotten good enough to go into business for myself. This blog, started after my first big craft fair, was created to document the process of becoming a wondrously succesful craftsperson. (Or it will document How Not To Do It. We'll see.)
