Winter Classes!

Myself and Jason had so much fun teaching last fall, we’re at it again! Here are our winter class offerings; if anything tickles your fancy, please email jasongordonholley@gmail.com.

Intro Part 1: 8 weeks
Mondays 1-4pm starting January 7, or Tuesdays 6:30-9:30 starting January 8.
We designed our intro class to be thorough and dense.  You will have ½ a class practicing on the wheel every class.  The other ½ will be spent learning a little bit about other ways we work with clay; pinch pots, slabs, coils, pulling handles, and surface decoration.

There are two instructors.
Maximum 8 students.
$320 – Includes all materials needed for class
Intro Part 2: 8 weeks
Sundays 1-4 starting January 6, or Wednesdays 6:30-9:30 starting January 9

We will build on the skills learned in Part 1, including wheelwork, pinch pots, slab building, and coiling. There will also be more in-depth surface decoration techniques, and an introduction to glazing.

$320 – Includes all materials needed for class
The 100 Cylinder Challenge

The pottery wheel will help create forms of all shapes and sizes with speed and precision…. if the potter has the skills. The 100 Cylinder Challenge will allow students the time and focus to improve their wheelwork dramatically. There are two options for this class:

Boot camp – 10 days at one hour per day. Throw ten cylinders each day. $600 for 10 hrs of private instruction, and 100lbs of clay. 5$/hour for optional open studio time to trim and glaze any cylinders you want to keep.

Or

At your own pace.  Come in when you have the time, preferably one or two times per week.  Take instruction when you need it, or work independently as you feel the need.  $250 – $600
Contact us for more information.

The 100 Challenge is flexible, and suitable for potters of any skill level.  Beginners have seen significant progress. Experienced potters may choose their own variations… throwing larger, or developing a new form, for instance.

The Handbuilt Hundred

Who needs cylinders!

Handbuilding allows a wide range of forms and textures that may not be efficient or even possible on the wheel. But it takes skill to truly pull them off. The Handbuilt Hundred allows a potter to develop and hone their techniques, with dramatic improvements by the end of the project. As with the 100 Cylinder Challenge, there are two options for this class:

Boot camp – 10 days at one hour per day. Build ten forms each day. $600 for 10 hrs of private instruction, and 100lbs of clay. 5$/hour for optional open studio time to refine and glaze any cylinders you want to keep.

Or

At your own pace.  Come in when you have the time, preferably one or two times per week.  Take instruction when you need it, or work independently as you feel the need.  $250 – $600
