I am a self-taught potter living and working in St. John’s, Newfoundland. I have a thing for robots (or at least, one Robot). Also, dinosaurs. And colours! Can’t get enough colour.
And I like stories. You can generally think of my pots as single panel comics.
I make pots. I like the idea of art you can interact with day to day, that doesn’t just uplift or cheer you, but that holds the food that sustains you.
I wasn’t able to get to Fresh Fish this year but I’d love to get one of your robot mugs for my son. Do you sell them anywhere in town, or can I buy directly from you?
Thanks!
Diana
Hi Diana,
I sold out at Fresh Fish, but there’s a new batch in the works right now. You’ll be able to find them at Model Citizens around the end of the month or the start of June, and at the Craft Council shortly afterwards. If you want to e-mail me (bluedragonclay@gmail.com), I can get one to you directly, or let you know the day I drop them off at Model Citizens.
Hi,
I was just wondering if you had a list of all the “robot” mugs you have made? I am just curious.
Thanks,
Sandy
Hi Sandy,
I haven’t kept a list, I’m afraid. But designs have popped up over and over; they’re Robot with dinosaur, Robot with balloon, Robot wears its heart out, Robot gives its heart away, Robot contemplates flight, and variations of Robot attempts flight.
Thank you! I keep seeing references to the dinosaur mug
so I’m thinking it is one of your most popular. Saw them at
Model Citizen and at Fresh Fish and loved them all!
Hi Maiike,
We like the cephalopots, like your dad, so we will go with that option. You can confirm the final order with your Dad; I think it is a teapot, four mugs and a creamer and a sugar. I would like the blue color, but will leave that to your dad also, as he has seen them in person.
Is there any way to write their names on the mugs( maybe on the bottom, David on one and Erin on the other? Just a thought.
Any thoughts of distributing your products in N.B.? I knwo oen relaly neat shop in downtown Fredericton who might be interested….
Regards, Joanne
Hi Tante Joanne!
I’ll call Papa tonight and confirm the order. And yep, I can put their names on the bottom; that’s no trouble.
I think distributing to New Brunswick sounds like fun. Today Fredericton, tomorrow the world… :-)
Cheers
Maaike
Hi there,
I love your work, a friend gave me a piece as a gift. I am leaving for B.C. on December 5th, and would love to purchase some gifts to bring with me before I leave. Is there any where I can do this before I leave. Thank YOU. Christine
Maybe I’m completely missing it but…do you have a way (other than these comments) for someone to contact you? Email address would be great. Thanks.
You have a great blog and LOTS of talent. I really like pottery. I read many of your posts, sorry I couldn’t find a “Like” button and I was at a loss for words. Do you make flower pots and do you ship? I have two blogs and I would like to add you as a source of pottery if that would be OK with you…
Hi Rooster,
Thanks! I do make flower pots, and yep, I ship. :-)
I will definitely keep you in mind!
Hello. I was wondering if you made a mug with the robot getting into “shenanigans”? I saw shenanigans on a small bowl once but I would love one on a mug. Please let me know.
Your posts are aways very inspiring! How do you feel about blog awards? Email me at belmontrooster@centurylink.net please.
Just wondering if you make any shaving mugs or sets?
Somewhere to stand your razor and brush to dry and two vessels a soap bowl and a lather bowl with a non slip handle. Some I have seen online look like mugs with 2 handles to hold the brush and razor.
Cheers great work!
Hm. I’ve made shaving bowls before, but they were just deep bowls with straight sides…I can definitely see the advantages of a non slip handle! And I gather that two separate vessels, for soap and for lather, gives you a superior froth. Is that right?
Yea one for soap storage and to load soap onto the brush then another bowl to really work it into a rich lather. They often have a swirled concentric circle base to help with lather generation as well.
I have sent an email to bluedragonclay@gmail.com to discuss some options let me know what you think :)
Hi Maaike,
I purchased four of your little robot cups from Jonathan’s and I love them. They make me smile. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Regards,
JY
Aw, thanks! I’m glad you like them.
Hello, my bf and I love your robot pottery and I already have a mug but want more :)
We live in Nova Scotia and are wondering if you ship your pottery?
Hi Krista,
Yes, I ship!
Glad to hear it :) !! Do you have a place where you display current robot pottery with prices? Or could you give me a few details?

Hi Krista,
I’ve let the Etsy shop slide as I’m getting ready for craft fairs right now… But my process range from 20$ for a small whiskey cup, to 30$ for a mug, to 100$ for a teapot. Was there a particular design or colour you had in mind?
I really like the orange robot mu, and if you have it in orange, him walking the dinosaur? Or another quote in orange
I’ve hit a few of those on hand. Would you like to email me your address? maaike dot charron at gmail.
Hey,
I saw your robot collection while I was visiting St. John’s, NL and I LOVE IT. I read on a previous post that you would be willing to ship to Halifax. Is it possible to get a list of the mugs in the collection so that I could order a few?
